About this book. A reference volume on the geology of North Africa, Geology of North Africa deals with Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. In great detail the geology, tectonic elements, the geology of the Pan-African Shield, the Phanerozoic geological evolution and most of the lithostratigrahpic units of the five countries are described. This book summarizes the geomorphology, geology, geochronology, geophysics and mineral resources of the Congo Basin, one of the world’s most enigmatic and poorly understood major intra-continental sedimentary basins, and its flanking areas of Central Africa. It provides an up to date analysis of the large region’s origin and evolution.

The evolution of this area is still far from resolved and makes Sabah an interesting site for geological investigations. The main tectonic elements of Sabah are a major fold-thrust belt trending northeast in the west (NW Borneo Trend) and bending to the east and southeast towards the north and eastern part (Sulu Trend) of Sabah. borneo Berita Sedimentologi BORNEO Number 21 6/ Channel-Levee Facies and Sea Floor Fan Lobes, Lower Kutei Basin Borneo's Deepwater Fold and Thrust Belt BORNEO Paleosol Analysis of Semberah Area Published by The Indonesian Sedimentologists Forum (FOSI) The Sedimentology Commission - The Indonesian Association of Geologists (IAGI) Number 21 ‐ June Page 1 of 46 .

Renewed interest in the diamonds of the area has prompted a great deal of geologic investiga- tion.

This affinity with Borneo distinguishes the Sandakan Basin from all other sedimentary basins of the Philippines. The Sandakan Basin is filled mainly with Mio- Pliocene age fluvio-deltaic sedimentary rocks, up to 15 km thick (Figure 2). The stratigraphic section in the basin has been described by Tamesis ().

Looking out across the teal-blue Bay of Sandakan, dotted with fishing trawlers, to distant isles, it's easy to visualise the remarkable past of the former capital of British Borneo, with its exotic cast of foreign interests – German traders, Dutch and Chinese planters, Arab and Indian traders, and pearl divers.

The book would be an important addition to libraries of institutions catering to economic geology education or practice.” (John Carranza, Natural Resources Research, February, ) “This unique book is a compilation of modern scientific articles on a full spectrum of metallic and non-metallic deposits in North Africa.

The paper aims to provide a detailed study of a metamorphic bimodal‐felsic Jurassic mineralization with emphasis on the tectonic setting of country rocks, the mode of occurrence, deformation, mineralogy and chemistry of ore, as well as the sulfur isotope signature of sulfide minerals.

The House of Agnes Keith. Agnes Keith was an American woman married to Henry Keith, who was the Conservator of Forests in Borneo. Living as an ex-pat in Sandakan in the ’s there wasn’t much for a woman to do except try and keep cool in the tropical heat, so Agnes wrote her first book Land Below the Wind, a story about the life and times of Sandakan.

A detailed environmental study of the capital area of Islamabad is also provided. These maps and studies will, the authors hope, provide a valuable data base for further exploration and development.
